Happy New Year Everyone!
I hope you survived the food comas and all of the yummy treats! One thing for certain is that lots of people are experiencing a squeeze as credit card statements are rolling in for holiday shopping. But, if you used some of the tips I gave you last month for saving money while holiday shopping, you might not be feeling the pinch. Which is great, because January has some of the best sales!
If you want to score some awesome deals this month, shop for:
- Anything Holiday-Themed – This is a given, but it’s one of the best times of the year for all my frugal fashionistas. There will be major sales on everything sparkly and glittery, not to mention home decor and anything else you might need for the holiday season will be majorly discounted. I learned from my mom at a young age that you should always shop off season for the best deals. Pick up all of the christmas cards and party outfits in January for next December and you’ll save up to 90% on everything!
- Suits – This is geared more towards men, but suit sales in January are typically pretty bad. As a result, companies often slash prices like crazy! If you have a man in your life that needs some new work attire, now is the time.
- Winter Gear – Isn’t it crazy how the fashion world is always a full season ahead? Well, that’s good news for your wallet. Winter clothing (coats, boots, hats & mitts, etc) sales always start at the beginning of the New Year. Prices will continue to fall as the winter season moves towards Spring, but January will give you the best selection of the discount merchandise. If you’re looking for something specific, now is the time to hit the racks!
- Jewellery – As stores begin to look towards Valentine’s day (eek!), lots of businesses will have sales on jewellery in January. If you or your partner is on the hunt for bling in 2017, January doesn’t get any better for savings. Stores also cut prices since people are recovering from holiday spending and expensive jewellery is hard to move as a result. Prices will further decrease as February rolls in and merchandise needs to be moved, but as I mentioned above, you’ll get the best selection in January along with 10-50% discounts.
Will you be taking part in any post-holiday shopping? If your goal for this new year is to get better at saving and spending less on clothes, then you’ll want to stick around! Interested in my goals for 2017? Check out the post I did on my resolutions here!
I’m really excited to continue to post lots of affordable content in the coming months, along with shopping tips and tricks that help me to save lots while still looking fabulous (in my own humble opinion, of course 😉 ).
