Happy Monday everyone, and welcome to my new site!! I’ve been working on creating something new and modern for a while now, and I’m so excited to share the final product with you today! It was so hard not writing or posting last week while the behind-the-scenes web work was being finished, so I’m very happy to be back today 🙂
I also have another reason to be very excited about today’s post! I’m partnering with By Jean Michel, a local Calgary photographer and artist who creates gorgeous silk scarves and fashion items out of his photography. Jean Michel travels all over the world to get the most beautiful photographs of some of nature’s finest places and events (including local gems like the Studio Bell Music Museum and the Calgary Stampede), and then turns them into amazing works of wearable art!
I first heard of Jean Michel and his scarves at a fashion mixer that I attended in Calgary, and was delighted at the opportunity to partner and share some of his art with you!
The scarf that I selected is inspired by a photo of “La Philharmonie“, a musical building in Paris, France and is part of Jean Michel’s new 2017 collection which just launched in November. It’s made from 100% crinkled silk and feels incredible. I loved this scarf for it’s detail, but also because the colours go really well with my hair 😉 Depending on the lighting, it can look either really blue or really grey, which is super neat.
If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you’ll know that I’m a big fan of saving money in certain fashion areas to be able to afford classic, timeless investment pieces. Jean Michel scarves definitely fall into the category of an investment piece. Silk is a gorgeous fabric that lasts forever if you look after it properly, and these scarves will definitely wear well over the years. Scarves are also a great accessory that you can splurge on in a fun colour because they add a nice pop to an otherwise neutral outfit, as you can see when you look at how I styled it in the photos.
If you’re still looking for gifts for the holidays, I definitely recommend taking a look at Jean Michel’s wearable art pieces. They’re absolutely gorgeous and would work for anyone – your mom, your grandmother, your best friend…anyone! I’d definitely not be opposed to receiving one for Christmas *cough cough* 😉
The packaging is also quite luxurious and suites the product well. When you purchase a scarf you receive a velvet pouch to store it in when you’re not using it, as well as an informational card that tells you all about the photo your scarf was based off of.
I love supporting local designers and entrepreneurs, and I am excited to be able to share Jean Michel’s scarves with you all. I was lucky enough to receive a discount code to pass along to all of my readers – devin – for 10% off if you do want to buy something as a gift for someone (or yourself, no judgement ;). They have even more beautiful designs on their website, so I encourage you to check them out!
Thanks so much for stopping by! I’d love to hear your thoughts on the beautiful scarf I shared today, and also on my new website! Feel free to leave me a comment or chat with me over on any of my social media platforms! I can’t wait to share even more great content with you as I head into this new chapter as a blogger 🙂
This is a sponsored post, but rest assured that all of my opinions are my own. I only share products that I genuinely love, and my hope is that you fall in love with them too!
