Happy Monday Everyone!
I’m so excited to share a super fun and feminine look on the blog today! A few months ago, I saw the most gorgeous sparkly headpiece in a local boutique here in Calgary, but unfortunately it was over $100 and I just couldn’t justify it (although my inner sparkle-obsessed 5 year old did her best to sway me). However, my darling boyfriend knew I was smitten with it and bought me an affordable flower crown alternative to help celebrate me getting a new job last week!
I knew I had to do a blog post featuring this oh-so-lovely little accessory! The crown was actually a semi-DIY project as it came with all the supplies but you had to put it together yourself. I was a little nervous about this as I’m generally un-artistic, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out! It’s from a brand called Oh Dina and the crowns are made by a fellow Canadian lady, so I’m all about that patriotic love 🙂 See how it turned out below!
I decided to pair the white crown with this cute little Kimchi Blue lace dress I bought last year from Urban Outfitters. It made the whole look feel very ethereal and Pinterest-worthy!
My lipstick is “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang” from Marc Jacobs (a Sephora birthday freebie!), and my eye makeup was created using my go-to Urban Decay Smokey Eye palette. I’m thinking of doing a makeup tutorial for this look on the blog soon, so let me know if you’d be interested in seeing that by giving a thumbs up on the bottom of this post!
With the girly factor already over 9000 on this look, I figured throwing in some live blooms was definitely necessary. The lilac flowers matched my nails perfectly, which was a pleasant surprise! My ring is from Pandora and is one of my favourite pieces of jewellery that I wear daily. It was a gift from my best friend last year for my 21st birthday 🙂
The back of this dress is one of my favourite parts! It really adds that pop of unexpected detail that makes it stand out from all the other little white dresses out there.
The other reason why I love this dress is that it has some movement on the bottom rather than being skintight. I struggled to find a white lace dress that didn’t hug every inch until I found this one, and I’m in love with it!
Overall, I had a ton of fun creating my flower crown and modelling it for this post! It was super easy to put together, totally customizable, and really ramped up the feminine edge to an already girly look. I’m not sure if I’ll be wearing it everyday, but a girl has to have options, right? 😉
What are your thoughts on the flower crown trend? Would you ever try it? Are there any other “Pinterest-inspired trends” you’d like to see next? Let me know in the comments or over on social media and I can do my best to make it happen! 🙂
