Happy Hallowe’en (and Monday) everyone! I hope your weekend was simply wonderful and full of yummy treats! This isn’t a Hallowe’en post, but if you’re still looking for some last minute costume ideas, check out the post below this one! I know some people love Hallowe’en for the costumes, but I personally love it just for an excuse to eat lots of candy with zero guilt!
Anyway, I’m really excited to share a new look with you all on the blog today! I was out shopping at one of my favourite local consignment stores here in Calgary last week and stumbled upon this gorgeous forest green sweater. If you read my post on my favourite colours for redheads, you’ll know that forest green is up there as one of my all-time favs. Unfortunately, it’s a colour that can be pretty hard to come by, so I always get irrationally excited when I do see it somewhere and then snap it up.
Which is exactly what happened when I spotted this guy. It’s originally from Banana Republic (I think it was in stores a few seasons ago) and has this really pretty cowl neck that can either be worn across the shoulders as I have pictured, or bunched up at the neck and looks great either way. It’s cozy and is made from super soft wool, but that’s not even the best part! Altogether, it cost me $16.45 CAD. What an awesome steal, especially because it looks almost brand new.
As soon as I saw it I knew that I had to share it with you guys here, along with this whole outfit! The jeans are from Old Navy (becoming increasingly more ripped by the day) and I got them for a grand total of $7 a few years ago. My ankle boots were also thrifted and I paid about $10 for them.
I will admit, the one thing that can be annoying about sharing thrifted items is that you guys can’t go out and buy them for yourself, which does bother me sometimes. I hate it when someone comments on a post asking where they can find the items I’ve shared at the same price and I don’t have an answer for them. So, I wanted to let you all know that from now on when I post a thrifted outfit, I’m going to do my best to include similar options at similar price points (or as close as I can get them). I’m also going to start buying more “current” outfits that are available in my favourite stores right now (Winners, Old Navy, etc.) so you can get your hands on the same awesome deals as I share them!
I found 2 other options that are similar to this sweater, and they’re both under $100 and available at Nordstrom. One is this BP Ribbed sweater and the other is this Bell Sleeved sweater – both are super adorable. In terms of jeans. I always buy mine on sale from Old Navy because I find they last a while and fit me really well (just make sure to get actual denim ones and not the “stretchy” denim otherwise they’ll start bagging pretty quickly). Here’s a link to my favourite Old Navy Jeans. For the booties, I love this option from Payless because they’re super cute and only $40!
I hope you liked seeing my new favourite sweater! Be sure to check back on Thursday (sign up for e-mail alerts so you never miss a post!) to see all the things going on sale this month!
