Happy Thursday everyone! I hope your week is going well so far! 🙂
Today I’m sharing one of my favourite looks on the blog to date! It’s also super affordable, which everyone loves. I’d definitely describe my style as girly and classic, so this was a fun look because it tied in a little of both.
I’ve heard from a lot of women that they’re afraid to wear tulle skirts, even though they really want to. The fear is that they’re going to look like a little girl instead of a #bosslady. Well, that’s simply not true! I love wearing tulle, and it can easily be incorporated into your wardrobe if you keep the rest of your outfit fairly professional, as I’ve done here. It’s when you wear a tulle skirt and glittery pumps and a bright pink top that you start heading away from a grown lady look (not that there’s anything wrong with that)!
This top was purchased from SmartSet for $20 way back when they were still in existence, but I’ve found a similar version here from Old Navy for under $30! This look could also easily be recreated with any top that you have on hand.
This skirt was also purchased from Smart Set (apparently I was their only customer) but I’ve found an identical one here from Zara for you guys. The key to keeping your skirt from looking too princess-ballerina is to make sure it flows softly from the waist rather than sticking out, which occurs as a result of lots and lots of tulle layers. You can always snip out a few layers if you already have a tulle skirt that’s really pouffy, but I think it’s a great excuse to buy a second one 😉 It’s easier to combine black tulle into your look, but pink or grey is definitely an option if you think that suits your personality better.
I love the little details on this shirt (check out the picture of the back down below), but I will admit that it’s the worst for wrinkling, so that’s a bit of a drawback.
The shoes that I’m wearing here are my Jimmy Choos (One of my only splurge purchases!) and I love how they instantly elevate any outfit to make it more feminine and chic. Check out my review of them here.
Told ya it was worth the wait! I always get complements on the back of this shirt, it’s just so cute (although a tad drafty when the weather is cold, I will admit).
So what do you guys think of this look?? It was definitely the most fun to shoot so far! Let me know in the comments if you’ll be rocking tulle anytime soon (especially with holiday parties coming up!)
Keep twirling ladies! 🙂
