We’re into the heart of September, which is also the heart of recruiting season! Interviewing can be scary, but one part that shouldn’t be scary is finding a great interview outfit.
There are a few general tips about dressing for success, but my favourite one is that you can never be overdressed. LIVE by this rule, trust me. By wearing something neutral like I am in the photos below (my go-to interview outfit), you’re showing that you respect the company and pride yourself on giving off a good image, something that every employer is looking for in a potential hire. Once you’ve gotten the job and have a chance to feel out the company culture, then you can decide to dress down if you want to.
Whenever I interview, I always wear black fitted pants (they’re actually secretly made of stretchy material and are so comfortable…shh!), a cute white or light coloured top with minor detailing, and a blazer. You can swap things around as you like, such as adding a bright top or a coloured heel if you want, but the goal is to have them remember your personality, not your crazy neon heels!
The best part is that dressing really well and giving a great impression doesn’t have to cost a lot! This entire outfit, excluding the shoes and purse, was $30!! I got the blazer for $15, the top for $5, and the pants for $10, all from Winners!
Interviewing can be tough, but dressing for success doesn’t have to be! Follow this interview outfit formula and you’ll be skipping along just like I am, and hopefully with a new job! What, as if you don’t swing around in the park in your interview clothes… just me? …okay #bloggerlife
Happy recruiting season! Go get ’em, tiger!
