Happy Labour Day Blog Friends!
Labour day is known for so many things: the end of the summer days, the beginning of school, the last weekend for BBQs and long summer nights. It’s also the traditional fashion benchmark for people to stop wearing white. Honestly, I’m fairly sure that “not wearing white after labour day” was the first bit of fashion knowledge that I learned from the ladies in my life, even before learning that you shouldn’t wear socks and sandals. Now, some rules are meant to be broken, and wearing white after labour day is definitely one of them! Wearing socks and sandals, on the other hand, maybe not…
There are so many awesome ways to incorporate white into your attire during the fall season and beyond! I’ve included some photo inspiration to help you get started, but there are also a few guidelines that can make it easier to pull it off!
1. White with Classic Fall Accessories: Bring out the white, but also incorporate some traditional “fall” fashion. Think plaid, ankle booties, and chunky sweaters to help the look come across as chic.
2. Rock White or Monochromatic Accessories: You can always carry the white trend into an outfit using a pair of shoes or a purse. This is great if you’re nervous about breaking traditional fashion rules and want to start out slowly. Using accessories that combine white with another colour is another fantastic way to include white into your post-labour day outfits in an understated way.
3. Forget the Rules! At the end of the day, fashion is an expression of personal style. Of course there are trends that the majority of people follow, but there’s no law that says you have to! If you want to rock an all white outfit with leaves on the ground, you do you, girl! Confidence is all you need.
